He was predeceased by : his parents, Franklin "Doc" Richards and Esther Pearl Turner Richards; his wife Virginia Louise Carper; his brothers, Dennis Richards and Eugene Richards; and his grandson Michael Cumm.

He is survived by : his children, Robert "Bob" Richards, Terry Richards (Belinda), David "Scott" Richards, Mark Richards (Judith), Christopher Richards Sr. (Tammy), Bobi Ciccolella (Joe) and Kay Allen (Gary). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
