He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Lenis Powell and Etta Pearl Bridgman Powell; his wife Theresa Matilda Maifeld Powell; and his siblings, Thomas Powell, Russell Powell, Virginia Carr, Juanita Alphin and Shirley Buck.
He is survived by: his children, Faith Collet Powell of Ashburn and Ernest C. Powell, Jr. (Al) of Huntsville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
