He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Graham Hurt and Margaret Felty Hurt of Wytheville; and his brothers-in-law, Thomas Lewis Darden of Smithfield and Raymond S. Dossett of Morehead City. He is survived by: his wife Caroline Darden Hurt of Isle; his sons, John Darden Hurt and Robert Shaffer Hurt (Amanda) of Nokesville, VA; his grandsons, John Darden Hurt II, Thomas Bryant Hurt of Rocky River and Robert Griffin Hurt of Nokesville; his sister Lynda Hurt Dossett of Morehead City, NC; and his siblings-in-law, Robert Seward Darden (Vickie) of Beaver Creek and Delores Darden of Smithfield. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Historic St. Luke's Memorial Park (14477 Benns Church Blvd, Smithfield, VA 23430).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the wildlife conservation organization of your choice. Some of Bob's favorites are the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Trout Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited.
