He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Lavendale Baird and Margaret Louise Worsham Baird; his brothers, Billy Baird and Gary Baird; his brother-in-law Jim Beanblossom; and his great grandchild Nolan Avery Short.

He is survived by: his wife Faye Beanblossom; his daughter Annette Cox (Jeff) of Bunker Hill, WV; his grandchildren, Kimberly Lauren Helton (Corey) of Concord, VA, J. R. Short (Anna) of Forest, VA and Lillian Sarah-Grace Cox of Bunker Hill, WV; his siblings, Shirley Hazel of Dunn, NC, Doug Baird (Peggy) of Newport, NC, Larry Wayne Baird (Roxanne) of Dunn, NC and Bobby Baird of Dunn, NC; his siblings-in-law, Shirley Baird of Dunn, NC and Edwin Beanblossom (Linda) of Roswell, GA; his close friends, Matt Ferguson, Judy Meeler and Ralph Hodnett; and his pet Dudley. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
