It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Doris Anne Cox Powell of South Boston, Virginia, born in Danville, Virginia, who passed away on April 12, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Samuel Pace "Sam" Cox and Helena Anne Motley Cox; and her brother Samuel Robert Cox. She is survived by : her children, Daniel W. Powell (Katina) of Powhatan, Donald W. Powell (Christina) of Roanoke and Deanne Powell Shaw (Kelly) of King George; and her grandchildren, Caleb Shaw, Nathan Powell, Hannah Shaw, Rebecca Shaw and Alexander Powell.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Halifax United Methodist Church (133 Mountain Rd, Halifax, VA 24558). A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
