With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Marjorie Nell Matthews Morris of South Boston, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 8, 2025 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Ollie Matthews and Jettie Bowen Matthews; her husband William Edward Morris; her grandson Jonathan Lee Peck; her sons-in-law, Larry Crenshaw and Jeff NortonTwo; and her siblings, Gertrude Lane, Clara OverbeyThree, Lawrence Matthews, Woodie Matthews and J. D. Matthews.
She is survived by: her children, Mark Morris (Melissa) of Maysville, NC, Delbert Morris (Nancy) of Virgilina, VA, Angela Crenshaw of South Boston, VA and Charlotte Norton of Scottsburg, VA; her granddaughters, Cynthia Morris (Jesse) of Morrisville, NC, Anna Morris (Jeremy) of Hubert, NC, Jessica Chitwood (Jeff) of Alton, VA and Melissa Truitt (Tyler); and her niece Shelby Schout (Barbara Jean Hamlett). She is also survived by Eight Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Powell Funeral Home (1603 Wilborn Ave, South Boston, VA 24592). A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel (1603 Wilborn Ave, South Boston, VA 24592).
