He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie Samuel Oakley and Lizzie Conner Oakley; and his siblings, Lottie O. Lowery, Harrell O. Claiborne, Zelma O. Ragans, Kathryn O. Franklin, Virley O. Clark, Esther O. Loftis, Henry Oakley and Ara O. Duncan.

He is survived by: his children, Sheila Oakley Wilmouth, Randy of South Boston, Bonita Oakley Vaughan, Mike of Pfafftown, NC, Karen Oakley Bauserman and Bill of Stephens City, VA; his grandchildren, Justin Michael Vaughan of Charlotte, NC, Lauren Wilmouth Rice (Colby) of Timberlake, NC, Ryan Gary Vaughan (Lynsey) of Silver Spring, MD, Allison Wilmouth Wilmoth (Nick) of Scottsburg, VA, Lindsey Taylor Bauserman of Henrico, VA and Caroline Morgan Bauserman of Richmond, VA; and his great grandchildren, McKenzie Snead, Brendan Snead, Brooklyne Snead, Gage Wilmoth, Alayna Wilmoth, Cayson Rice, Parker Rice and Jax Vaughan.
