With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Blanche Sumner Griffin (South Hill, Virginia), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 10, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Blanche Sumner farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Blanche Sumner is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Henry and Naomi Sumner. She is survived by: her husband Lawrence Griffin; and her stepchildren, Terrie Griffin Stafford (Roy) and Michael Griffin (Jessica). She is also survived by 7 step-grandchildren, 9 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great grandson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory (1504 N Mecklenburg Ave, South Hill, VA 23970). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chester Baptist Church at 4317 School Street, Chester, VA 23831 or to Olive Branch Baptist Church at 5223 Blackridge Road, La Crosse, VA 23950.
