He was predeceased by: his wife Edith Newman Tanner; and his siblings, Alice Elnora, Dorma Clary, Lucille Pollard, Gracie Morgan, David Lee, Richard Coleman, Henry, Thomas Earl and Charles William.
He is survived by: his children, Sally Jean Thompson (Russell) of La Crosse and Lewis Gregory (Tanner); his grandchildren, Joseph Ryan of Charlottesville and Lauren Elizabeth Clark (Tony) of South Hill; and his great grandchildren, Carylnn and Paisley Rae Clark.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory (1504 N Mecklenburg Ave, South Hill, VA 23970). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at the Crosse Cemetery.
