We announce the death of Richard Earl Martin Sr. of South, Virginia, who passed away on August 29, 2026, at the age of 91. Richard will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Richard will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Richard’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Martin and Gracie Webster Martin; and his brothers, Jack, Sunny and Douglas Martin.
He is survived by: his wife Bernice E. Martin; and his children, Richard Earl "Rickey" Martin Jr. (Vicki), Steven Thomas "Tommy" Martin (Nena) and Sherry Ann Belcher (Steven). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, Colonial Heights Chapel (2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834). A graveside service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Blandford Cemetery (319 S Crater Rd, Petersburg, VA 23803).
