He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry R. Applegate and Edna C. Applegate; his brother Richard Applegate; and his half-sister Lucille Shaw. He is survived by: his daughter Katie Marie Early (Applegate); his grandsons, William, Curtis and Lucas; his former wife Sharon; and his stepchildren, Faith and Jason. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at 12018 Lee Hwy, Sperryville, VA 22740.
