We announce the death of Helen Irene Able of Spotsylvania, Virginia, born in Louisville, Kentucky, who passed away on August 25, 2026, at the age of 97. Helen will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Helen will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Helen will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Helen’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Virgil Horine and Nellie Horine of Fairdale, Kentucky; her husband William H. Able, Jr. of Spotsylvania; her daughter Charlotte Hall of Spotsylvania; her sister Catherine Crawford of Fairdale; and her grandson Raymond Hall.
She is survived by: her children, Roger Able (Mary Jean Kirchner) of Locust Grove, Carolyn Able of Locust Grove and Debbie Able Patterson (Keith Patterson) of Fincastle, Virginia; her brother-in-law Robert Able; and her son-in-law Raymond Hall. She is also survived by four grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Craigs Baptist Church (14123 W Catharpin Rd, Spotsylvania Courthouse, VA 22551). A funeral service was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
