He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas McDermott and Mary McDermott (Heavey). He is survived by: his wife Janet Cullen McDermott; and his siblings, Mary Manning, Ann Cyr, John McDermott and Thomas McDermott. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces and many friends.
A wake will be held on Friday, October 31st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home (1500 W Braddock Rd, Alexandria, VA 22302). Viewing will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Sullivan Funeral Home (551 Washington St, Hanover, MA 02339). Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (1427 W Braddock Rd, Alexandria, VA 22302). A burial will be held on Wednesday, November 5th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Blue Hill Cemetery (700 West St, Braintree, MA 02184).
