He is survived by: his wife Jean Elizabeth Poffinberger Gilbert; his children, Craig Eugene Gilbert (Annie), James Wayne Gilbert (Dianna) and Anne Marie Gilbert Portell (Jim); his sister Jane Gilbert Linkenhoker; his grandchildren, James Gilbert, Andrea Irelan, John Robinson, Andrew Robinson (Janie), Daniel Hudson, Hayley Gilbert, Maycen Gilbert, Camden Gilbert, Tyler Portell (Codie), Cody Portell (Riva), Troy Portell and Abby Portell; and his great grandchildren, Hailey, Harlee, Hannah, Hidey, Abiageal, Andrew, Nicholas, Gabrielle, Cam, Gage, Willow, Angel, Stetson, Daylon, Ronan and Cameron. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to Ramoth Baptist Church in Stafford, Virginia.
