Painter of Staunton; his grandson Jeffrey S. Painter of Verona, Virginia.; his brother Samuel F. Painter of Blythewood; his sister-in-law Vickie J. Painter of Staunton; and his niece Sue M. Hubbell of Castle Rock. He is also survived by numerous other nephews and nieces.
He was also a founding member of the Historic Staunton Foundation.
