With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Carl Alfonza Claytor of Staunton, Virginia, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Carl left this world on December 5, 2025 at the age of 78, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover Claytor and Hazel Layne Claytor; his sister-in-law Carolyn Allen Claytor; and his great-nephews, Philip McLaughlin and Tristan McLaughlin.
He is survived by: his siblings, Audrey Lindamood (Wayne) of Waynesboro and Oliver Claytor of Crimora; his nieces, Dana Gibson (Rick) of Staunton, Kelly Byram (Paul Bryant) of Crozet, Jody Bryant (Scottie) of Verona, Tonya Mutherspaw (Ricky) of Swoope and Michelle (Shelly); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kristen Gibson, Kayla Gibson, Matthew Gibson, Hunter Byram, Sarah Byram, Ryan McLaughlin and Dylan Dever.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the McDow Funeral Home (1701 W Main St, Waynesboro, VA 22980). A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 10th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Riverview Cemetery (420 Rosser Ave, Waynesboro, VA 22980).
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Carl's name to St. Jude's Hospital or Shriners Children's.
