He was predeceased by: his parents, Lorenzo Clyde Gibson and Mary Lucille Eades Gibson; his wife Gertrude Van Pelt Gibson; and his siblings, Clyde Gibson, Bobby Gibson and Mary Ann Kuznear.
He is survived by: his children, Charles Jeffrey Gibson (Robin) of Rich Patch, Covington, Helen Marie O'Gorman (Patrick) of Eagle Rock and Angela Lynn Thorne of Staunton; and his grandchildren, Sharon Gibson, Karen Gibson, Tyler Gibson, Dustin Gibson, Charles Grant Linthicum, Denver Linthicum, Skylar Linthicum, Drake Thorne and Katie Thorne. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, including a special nephew.
The family suggests memorial tribute take the form of contribution to the A.C.G Hospice of Staunton and the Food Pantry in Clifton Forge.
