It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Doris (Hopkins) Moore Armstrong of Staunton, Virginia, born in Roanoke, Virginia, who passed away on March 1, 2026, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie Lee Hopkins and Louella Hopkins (Simmons); her former husband Lloyd J. Moore; her sister Janet Abshire; and her brothers-in-law, John Abshire and Harold G. Ramsuer.
She is survived by: her daughter Deborah M. Walker (Roderick Clark) of Staunton; her sister Mary H. Ramsuer of Roanoke; her stepgranddaughter Tonya Williams; her son Jones of Richmond; her sibling's children, Darryl Abshire (Renee) of Boones Mill, VA and Linda Cruff (Danny) of Roanoke; her cousin Pat Wheeler of Lynchburg; her friend Patsy Morris of Greenville; and her family, Scott, Tara, Peyton, Grace, Joey Edwards of Richmond, JoeAnn, Lyn Day of Staunton, Rick, Wendy Ramsuer of Roanoke, Gerald, Cindy, MaryBeth Killian of Roanoke, Brenda Miller of Verona, Betty Hammer and Stephen Ritchie. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, March 5th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Thornrose Cemetery (1041 W Beverley St, Staunton, VA 24401). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, March 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Memorial Baptist Church (224 Taylor St, Staunton, VA 24401).
In lieu of flowers, Doris would prefer that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Memorial Baptist Church, 224 Taylor Street, Staunton, Virginia 24401.
