He was predeceased by: his parents, James Hite and Margaret Hite; and his brother Hunter Hite. He is survived by: his spouse Sandy; his daughters, Kristy and Kara; and his siblings, Homer Hite, Mary Ellen Earhart and Peggy Paxton.
He requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to youth programs at the Staunton-Augusta YMCA through the New Hope Road Project.
