He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Lara Steelman (Strain) of Hudson Avenue; his parents, Fred Edward Steelman and Brenda Steelman (Hefner); his children, Ricky Lee Steelman, Jr. (Ashley) of Nellysford and Ashely Nicole Silva of Harrisonburg; his stepson Adam Layer (Raven Smith) of Staunton; his stepmother Fran Steelman; his grandchildren, Luke Steelman, Noah Steelman, Chloe Walker, Colton Walker, Brantley Moore, Penelope Steelman and Asher Layer; his siblings, Mark Steelman of Hubert and Tina Renee Steelman of Hickory; and his cousin Jeff Hefner of Taylorsville.
