He was predeceased by: his father Arthur Watts Thompson; and his siblings, John Arthur Thompson and Pamela Regina Thompson Richard. He is survived by: his mother Louise Orneatha Harris Thompson; his wife Valerie Inez Smith Thompson; his daughter Nykia Smith; his stepdaughter Bianca Smith; his granddaughter Raelynn Smith-Dean; and his siblings, Mary Thompson Melton, Jimmie Lorraine Thompson Jones and Ronald W Thompson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
