He was predeceased by: his parents, William Mangus and Leslie Ann Lamb Koogler; and his siblings, Louis, Vincent, Lyle, Melvin, John, Elmer, Glenn Koogler, Evelyn Harris, LaRue Baber and Emily Schwab.
He is survived by: his wife Gaytha Koogler (Baber); his sons, Michael "Mike" (Cheryl) of South Carolina and Charles "Charlie" (Patricia "Patti") of Staunton; his brother David (Margie) of Texas; his sister-in-law Charlotte Koogler of Raphine; his grandsons, Thomas "Tommy" and Jonathan "Jonny" of Staunton; his stepgrandchildren, Nicole Mader (Charles "Charlie") of Maryland and Timothy Bandell (Jaclyn) of North Carolina; and his caregiver Jeanne Sullenger.
Visitation was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory (230 Frontier Dr, Staunton, VA 24401). A celebration of life was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Vesuvius Baptist Church (830 Tye River Turnpike, Vesuvius, VA 24483).
