She was predeceased by: her parents, Opal Lillian and Eldridge LeRoy Shafer; her husband Michael Souza; her son David Troy Souza; and her sister Patty Loftus.

She is survived by: her children, Michael Anthony Souza of Staunton and Cherice Micheal Souza (Brian Payne) of Locust Grove; her grandchildren, Devon Troy Souza (Grace) of Stuarts Draft, Madison Shae Fitzgerald of New Market and Aiden Lee Knott of Locust Grove; her great grandchildren, Emmalyn Grace Souza and Robert Scott Souza; and her siblings, Pam Spiggle (Ray) of Gloucester, Cindy Sumrell (Ken) of Florida and Roy Shafer of Lexington.
