She was predeceased by: her parents, Carroll Hummer and Margaret Vorous Hummer; her husband Fred Wayne Grim; her brother-in-law William Poland; her stepmother Helen Hummer; and her stepsister Sara Baugher.
She is survived by: her daughters, Christine Grim of Broadway, VA, Katherine Dixon (Joseph) of Cross Junction, VA and Marilyn Metzler of Richmond, VA.; her siblings, Virginia Poland, Robert Hummer (Barbara) and Lynnwood Hummer (Barbara); and her stepsiblings, Carl Brill, Jr., Kevin Brill and Yvonne Davy. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, Shirley requested that contributions be made to the Weekday Religious Education Association, Ridings Chapel Cemetery Fund, Blue Ridge Hospice and American Cancer Society (local chapter).
