Sheryl touched many lives and will be remembered fondly for the moments shared and the memories created. Family, friends, and colleagues extend their love and support during this time. While Sheryl’s presence will be missed, the influence she had on others will remain. Those who knew her will carry forward memories that reflect her character and spirit.
She was predeceased by: her husband Gerald Yates (Jerry). She is survived by: her son John (Rebecca); her granddaughters, Sarah and Lauren; her daughter Kathy; and her siblings, Susan Lofstrom (Charlie), Gary Sahm (Mary Jo) and Daniel Sahm (Jan). She is also survived by nieces, and nephews, and precious friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Community Lutheran Church (21014 Whitfield Pl, Sterling, VA 20165). A burial will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at the Chestnut Grove Cemetery (831 Dranesville Rd, Herndon, VA 20170).
