She was predeceased by : her parents, Robert Powers and Ruth Daniels Powers; her husband James Lawson Carter; and her siblings, Emory Powers, Lee Powers, Donald Powers, Gladys House and Carolyn Grady.
She is survived by : her children, Anthony James Carter, Terry Carter (Gary), Lisa Carter and Catherine Priest (Bo); and her sister Ann Cliborne. She is also survived by six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
