He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Turner and Lillian Mize Turner; his siblings, Shirley Turner Moore, Marie Foster, Oran Akers "Bob" Turner, Walter Turner and Cecil "Mop" Turner; and his half-siblings, Catherine "Cassie" Seagraves, Gene and Irvin Turner.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Martin Turner; his daughter Dana; his son-in-law Stuart Scott of Stuart; his granddaughter Jessica Phillips (Brian) of Woolwine; and his siblings, Nancy Shively of Ferrum and Curtis Turner of Stuart.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department, 6687 Fairystone Park Hwy, Stuart, VA 24171 or to the Woolwine Fire, Smith River Community Covered Bridge Committee c/o Jean Fain, P.O. Box 275, Woolwine, VA 24185.
