He was predeceased by: his parents, Amos Reed Clifton and Anna Lee Cruise Clifton of Stuart, Virginia.. He is survived by: his sister Lucy Nowlin of Stuart, Virginia. He is also survived by five children and three step-sons; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
