In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact John had on those he encountered along his journey. Though John may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, his essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Estelle Groome, and John C. Groome, Sr.; his brother Robert Groome; and his niece Teresa Groome. He is survived by : his wife Betty; his children, Kimberly Howerton (Scott) and John "Eddie" Groome (Kelly); and his grandson Hunter Howerton (Faith Kelso). He is also survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

A funeral service was held on Friday, May 24th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Charlton and Groome Funeral Home (619 Lifecore Dr, Fishersville, VA 22939). A burial was held on Friday, May 24th 2024 at the Augusta Memorial Park.

They also are grateful for the care received at the Shenandoah House and ask that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the Shenandoah House - C/O Augusta Health Foundation, P. O. Box 1000, Fishersville VA 22939.
