With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Jean Lavender-Goodman in Suffolk, Virginia, born in Birmingham, Alabama, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 25, 2025 at the age of 74. She was predeceased by: her husband Charles Goodman; her close friend Ronald G. Lavender; and her parents, N. V. Owen and Lula Mae Owen. She is survived by: her children, Ron Lavender and Tanika Lavender; and her siblings, Samuel Owen and Linda Johnson. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews.
