He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Lee Saunders and Virginia Elizabeth Powell Saunders; and his brother Billy Wayne Saunders. He is survived by: his wife Jean Carolyn Ritter Saunders; his son Richard "Richie"; his daughter-in-law Shannon Saunders; and his sister Linda Saunders Story. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
