He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Emery Nichols and Ethel Duke Nichols; and his brother William Talmadge "Tom" Nichols. He is survived by: his wife Sue Harrell Nichols; his daughters, Margaret "Meg" N. Taylor (Travis) and Sara N. Cooper (John); his grandchildren, Stephen, Darden, Meredith and Annalee; his sister Judy N. Kovalik (Richard); and his sister-in-law Carolyn English Nichols. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
