She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Lee Woodruff, Sr. and Daisy Joyner Woodruff; her former husband Edward "Ed" Valentine; her husband William "Chic" Walker, Sr.; her brother Robert Lee Woodruff, Jr.; her sister-in-law Jean Elizabeth Woodruff; her sister Ruth Elizabeth Woodruff Outlaw; her brother-in-law James Edward Outlaw; her grandson Brian Antoine Bess; and her nephews, Reginald L. Woodruff, Sr. and Joe H. Cooper, Jr..

She is survived by: her daughter Gail V.; her son-in-law Alexander "AB" Bess, Jr. of Portsmouth, VA; her grandchildren, Derrick L. Bess (Paula), Kiana D. Bess and Alexander Bess, III; and her great grandchildren, Jacari, Tyler, Jaylen and Jerrick. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
