He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Elsie Mae Washington and Sylvester Mayfield Sr. Fellex; his wife Florence E. Staggs; his children, Erica Brown, Kenneth Brown and Keith Brown (Kevona); and his siblings, Tammie Major, Estelle Lassiter (Donald), Dinita Mizell-Cheetum (Roscoe), Ruth Perry (Lonnie), Lester Staggs, Thomas Staggs (Bromodeen), Josh Mizell III and Sylvester Mayfield Jr. (Beverly Mayfield). He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and dear friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, May 15th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel (900 E Washington St, Suffolk, VA 23434). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Balm Church-East Campus (523 E Washington St, Suffolk, VA 23434). A burial was held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 at the Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery (1433 Kings Fork Rd, Suffolk, VA 23434).
