With sadness, we share the passing of Roland Gene Harrell (Suffolk, Virginia). Roland, born on June 28, 1941, passed away on October 8, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Annie Mary Nixon Harrell and Percy Mark Harrell; his son Nolan Gene Harrell; and his brother Kermit Harrell. He is survived by: his wife Esther Layton; his daughters, Amy Richter (Douglas) and Carla Robinette (Matt); his grandsons, Ethan Richter (Ally) and Tyler Richter; and his great grandchildren, Mary and Kynlee Richter.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home and Crematory, Downtown Suffolk Chapel (509 W Washington St, Suffolk, VA 23434). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Southside Baptist Church (917 Carolina Rd, Suffolk, VA 23434).
