He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilfred Williams Gwaltney and Madeline Bush Gwaltney; his wife Josephine Simms Gwaltney; and his sisters, Jean G. Belcher and Maxine G. Harrup.
He is survived by: his son Steven W.; his daughter-in-law Sharon P. Gwaltney; his daughter Nancy G.; his son-in-law Donnie M. Eason; and his siblings, Donna G. Grinnell, David Nelson Gwaltney and Henry Thornton Gwaltney. He is also survived by five grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren.
