It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thelma Louise Spruill (Suffolk, Virginia), who passed away on February 17, 2026, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James A. Futrell and Sally Ann Futrell; her husband Johnnie C. Spruill Sr.; her siblings, James A. Futrell Jr., Mable Futrell and Clarine Futrell; her children, Tony, Donald, Johnny (June) and Bernice; and her grandsons, Bennie Wood III and Rufus Artis (Scooter).
She is survived by: her children, Mable Goodwin (Clifton) of Windsor, VA., Betty Jones (Shelly Lee) of Holland, VA. and Leon Spruill; her brother Jessie Futrell (Mary Louise) of Ahoskie, NC.; her sister-in-law Bernice Mumford of Hookerton, NC.; and her close friend Linda Wiggins. She is also survived by grandchildren, great grand, and great, great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
