William Oscar Lane Obituary
With sadness, we share the passing of William Oscar Lane in Suffolk, Virginia. William, born on June 14, 1932 in Gates, North Carolina, passed away on August 25, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar G. Lane and Sallie Duck Lane; and his siblings, Robert Lane, Mary Belle Lane Russell and Herbert "Buster" Lane.
He is survived by: his wife Florence King Lane; his sons, Michael Lane (Cindy) and John "Johnny" Lane (Alexa); his grandchildren, Autumn Corns, Ben Campbell and Megan Taylor; his great grandchildren, Jason Corns, Nora Taylor, Rudee and Grace Campbell; and his siblings, Marie Mathias, James "Buddy" Lane, Brenda Lane and Debra Long. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Waverly Baptist Church. A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Holly Lawn Cemetery (1525 N Main St, Suffolk, VA 23434).
In lieu of flowers, if desired, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Waverly Baptist Church or the Waverly Ruritan Club in his memory.
