He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Walter Tate and Mary Wilson Tate; and his siblings, Betty Allen, L. B. Tate, Jesse Walter Tate, Jr. and Lee Tate.
He is survived by: his sister Mary Brumfield; his niece Joan Walker (Donald); and his great-nephew David Wilson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a daughter.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, February 10th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Danville Memorial Gardens (510 Church Ave, Danville, VA 24541).
