He was predeceased by : his parents, Martin Viars and Mary Lucille Viars; his sisters, Shelia Chewning and Sandra Cox; his brother-in-law Steve; and also Leslie.

He is survived by : his wife Mary; his children, Chris (Amy), Justin (Stacie) and Dawn (Benjy); and his grandchildren, Kayla (Frank), Andrea (Austin), Noah Avery, Ally, Caden, Haley and Mary Kate.
