She was predeceased by: her father George Litz Harman; her husband Claude Harrison Van Dyke; her brother George Litz Harman, Jr.; her daughter Linda Ann Van Dyke; and her grandchildren, Caroline Jay Wisman and Jerome Courtenay Moore.
She is survived by: her mother Hattie Beavers Harman; and her children, Martha Van Dyke Peery (William Wade Peery) of Charlottesville, George Oscar Van Dyke of Tazewell, VA., Roger "Rah" Steven Van Dyke (Ann Harman Van), Claudia "Poody" Van Dyke Wisman (Paul P. Wisman, Jr.) of Charlottesville, Mollie Van Dyke Firebaugh (John "Jay" Garland), Bradley Stuart Strong (Mary Ann Mullins) and Litz Harman Van Dyke (Jackie Dunn Van). She is also survived by her 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Main Street United Methodist Church (118 Main St, Tazewell, VA 24651).
She also served on the board of the Community Foundation of the Virginias, an organization that gives scholarships and grants to kids going to college and to community organizations.
