He was predeceased by : his parents, Palmer Penland and Mabel Patrick Penland. He is survived by : his wife Ellen Thompson Penland of Tazewell, VA; his sons, Randy Penland of Thompson Valley, VA and David Palmer of Tazewell, VA; his sister Judy Thompson of Hillsville, VA; and his grandchildren, Justine Lockhart and Daniel Penland. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
