He was predeceased by : his father William "Bill" Helmick; his former life partner Effie Mae Eaton; his wife Mary Cave Helmick; his daughter Joan M. Coleman; and his grandson Kevin Helmick.
He is survived by : his children, Janet Propst (Gary) of Harrisonburg, Judy Mongold of Timberville, Crystal Helmick (Bub Fink) of Lacey Springs, Penny Kay Helmick of Timberville and Wilbur Eugene Helmick, Jr. (Tammy) of Broadway; his stepdaughter Roberta Boyers of Harrisonburg; and his sister Mary Ruth Waitman of Charles City, VA. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
