He was predeceased by: his parents, James Holmes and Annie Mae Holmes; his former wife Monnie Lawson Holmes; and his wife Mary Lou Spencer Holmes. He is survived by: his friend Mary Lou Spencer; and his sisters, Adell Holmes Chaffin (Sam Sr.) and Lena Knight. He is also survived by six stepsons and one surviving stepdaughter; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the West Hill Baptist Church (10349 Oral Oaks Rd, Victoria, VA 23974).
