It is with sadness that the passing of James Lee Cunningham (Vinton, Virginia) is shared. James, born on October 27, 1946 in Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on September 12, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: wife: Judy Harris Cunnigham; children: "Zeph"aniah Cunningham (Kelly), Heather McGlennon (Matt), Sarah Mullins (Joe); grandchildren: Lillian Cunningham, Riley McGlennon, Katie Smith (Cody), Amber Mullins; great grandchildren: Charlie Smith, Harper Smith; sister: Gaye Walke (Dan); parents: Jack Anderson, Ruth Moore Anderson, Claude Cunningham Sr.; in-laws: William Harris, Alice Harris; siblings: Faye Sheffield, Claude "Shorty" Cunningham Jr; stepbrother: Danny Anderson; caregiver: Dr. Lydia Sharp; other: Rev. Chris Monroe; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, many friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Vinton Baptist Church (219 E Washington Ave, Vinton, VA 24179).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Vinton History Museum, Bedford Fire Department, or Vinton Baptist Church Maintenance Fund.
