We are sad to announce that on May 9, 2026, at the age of 71, John Thornhill Jr. (Vinton, Virginia) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his grandmother Annie Myrtle Reese; his parents, John Thornhill, Sr. and Magaret Thornhill; his cousin Lewis Worrell; and his brother-in-law Gary Jenkins.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Thornhill; his children, Michelle Thompson (Michael), Johnny Thornhill (Susan), Tracie Thornhill and Todd Thornhill (Michelle); his grandchildren, Chelsea, Jeffrey, Hannah, Joshua, Cassidy, Justin, Sophie, Coy, Dominick and Kamron; his siblings, Dennis Thornhill (Teresa) and Brenda Jenkins; his cousins, George Thornhill, Richard Thornhill, Shirley Thornhill and Mary Robinson (Marvin); and his sisters-in-law, Tina Miller (Keith), Tammy Black (Rowland) and Diane Bocock (James). He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, numerous extended family and countless friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Oakey's Vinton Chapel (627 Hardy Rd, Vinton, VA 24179). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 14th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Dementia Society of America in his memory.
