It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Juanita Gay Echols of Vinton, Virginia, who passed away on July 19, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Sidney Elford Gay and Naomi Woodroof Gay of Gaston, NC; and her brothers, Sidney Fran Gay of Woodbridge, VA and Nathan Henry Gay of Clinton, NC.. She is survived by: her children, Suzanne Echols Schupp (Joseph Alan Schupp) of Oriental, NC and James Lawrence Echols Jr. (Sonya Ranson Echols) of Short Pump; her former husband James Lawrence Echols of Vinton; and her grandchildren, Evan Michael Richardson (Amanda), Whitney Marie Hubbard (Curt), Joseph Alan Schupp Jr., Dr. Lauren Elizabeth Echols, Allyson James Echols, Sarah Schupp and Natalie Seyle. She is also survived by two nieces, one nephew and one great nephew.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church (707 E Washington Ave, Vinton, VA 24179). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A reception will be held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the George Wesley Jones Fellowship Hall.
