He was predeceased by: his parents, William Cook and Lizzie Yates Cook Claytor; his son Ronald Gene Cook; and his son-in-law Layne Norman Pugh. He is survived by: his wife Betty Jean Cook; his grandson Christopher William Cook; his brother Cyril M. Cook; his daughter Cindy L. Pugh; his grandson Nicholas; his son William E. Cook (Donna Cook); his grandchildren, Brandi and Brandon; his son Charles W. Cook (Sharon Cook); his grandchildren, Ashley, Whitney and Amanda; his daughter Connie Cook Beheler (Jerrald Beheler); his grandchildren, Justin, Bryan and Brittany; his daughter Karen Zimmerman (David Zimmerman); and his grandchildren, Heather, Ariel and Zach. He is also survived by many great grandchildren.
A reception will be held on Friday, November 7th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Charles R Hill Senior Center at the War Memorial (820 E Washington Ave, Vinton, VA 24179).
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association or Gentiva Hospice in honor of William Cook.
