He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Thomas Seate, Sr. and Eunice Puryear Seate; his grandson Richard Thomas Seate, IV; his daughter-in-law Tammy Lynn Gosney Seate; and his siblings, Allen Seate, Douglas Seate, Elmo Seate, George Seate, Kelly Seate, Odell Hughes, Dora Daniels, Sue Brame and Agnes Seate.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Ann Nelson Seate; his children, Richard Thomas "Dickey" Seate, III and Kimberly Ann Seate Morris (Lacy); his grandsons, Ryan Trevor Seate (Emily), Noah Tyler Seate (Katie) and Dalton Lacy Morris (Maci); his great grandchildren, Ryland Thomas Seate, Rory Hope Seate, River Rose Seate, Nash Tyler Seate, Maggie Ann Seate and Charlotte Kaye Seate; and his brother James Overbey.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Grace Baptist Church (1058 Buckshoal Rd, Virgilina, VA 24598). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
