He was predeceased by: his parents, Clorine Mitchell and Melville Straub; and his brother Kevin Straub. He is survived by: his wife Barbara J. Straub; his daughters, Carla Gilby and Cheryl Adair (Steve); his stepchildren, Maureen Dingus (Stephen) and Arthur O'Haire Jr. (Sarah); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Stephen Gilby, Michael Newby, Brian, Jessica Wing, Isabel, Liam Dingus, Avery and Logan O'Haire; and his great grandchildren, Adrien and Lucas Newby.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Food Bank of South Hampton Roads.
